What is Dopamine and why it's so important

What is Dopamine and why it's so important

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in our body. Dopamine release when we are expecting rewards. And that reward can be food, meeting with a girl, video game, alcohol, and nicotine.

And then this cycle keeps on repeating. Most of the time Dopamine acts with other neurotransmitters like Serotonin and adrenaline.

Our nervous system uses Dopamine to send the signal in different nerve cells. That's why Dopamine is also known as Chemical messenger.

Dopamine bind with receptors in our brain then these receptors pass the information to other cells that are given by Dopamine.

Why Dopamine is so important -

1. Only because of Dopamine we feel pleasure. Only because of Dopamine we do things like playing video games and watch videos on the internet.

Lessor and high quantity of Dopamine in our body can lead to a much serious health issue.

2. These are the part or activity of our body that is controlled by Dopamine -

- Movement

- Pain processing

- Attention

- Mood

- Sleep

- Kidney function

- Heart rate

- Motivation

- Learning

So Dopamine controls many parts of our body.

3. Dopamine imbalance in our body creates mental problems -

A high level of Dopamine in our body leads to Schizophrenia. Its a mental disorder where the relation between thoughts, emotion, and behavior gets destroyed.

Your feeling and action will be unsuitable. Our belief is false but still be strongly believes in them.

You will start the Hallucinating. This means you will start seeing or hear unreal things.

And ADHD attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is caused by a shortage of Dopamine in our body.

4. Low levels of Dopamine cause obesity. We are not easily satisfying the amount of food we eat, so we keep on eating.

5. Good level of Dopamine is very important for -

- Blood pressure

- Pumping of heart

- Blood flow

6. A low level of Dopamine also leads to Depression and Parkinson's disease.

In this Parkinson's disease, our body movements became slow.

Only because of Dopamine release we feel pleasure by doing something and want to repeat those activities. And if Dopamine release less in our brain it causes unpleasant feelings and Low mood.
