What is Jaggery and what are its health benefits

Jaggery is the raw or unrefined sugar and made from sugarcane Juice. Mostly it is consumed in Asia. Jaggery is becoming so popular as a healthy replacement for Sugar. 

The Colour of Jaggery can be brown or dark brown. Jaggery is also known as a Superfood sweetener because of the presence of Molasses, Crystals, and proteins.

 

Jaggery has different names in a different county -

 India - Gur

Colombia - Panela

Japan - Kokuto

Thailand - Namtan tanode

India and Brazil are the top exporters of Jaggery.

Buy only dark brown or brown clour jaggery. Don’t buy white or yellow in color because they are not so beneficial. 

Eat 1 to 3 tablespoon every day.

Why Jaggery is healthier than Sugar -

1. Jaggery contain more nutrients than sugar because it contains Molasses. And in Suger, there are no Molasses.

2. Main ingriendents of Jeggery are -

Calories, Sucrose, fructose, protein, vitamin, Fat, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Phosphorus and Manganese.

And in White sugar, you will only get Calories and none of the healthy nutrition.

So we should use Jaggery over sugar.

What are the health benefits of Jaggery -

1. Cure constipation -

Jaggery stimulates bowel movements and activate digestive enzymes. Eat a little bit Jaggery after eating help in digesting food.

2. Detox the body -

Jaggery helps the liver to remove toxins from our body.

3. Purify the blood -

When your blood is pure then you can save from many diseases. Jaggery also helps in making red blood cells in our body.

4. Headache

5. It improves bone health and removes joint pain - while drinking milk eats some jaggery it helps in Joints pain.

6. Purified respiratory tack - Eat Jaggery with Sesame seeds to cure any respiratory disease.

7. Maintain acid and base level in blood. Jaggery is alkaline in nature and helps neutralize the acid.

8. Boost energy level -

If you are feeling tired every time then try eating a little bit of Jaggery every day. It boosts our energy level for a long time.
