How to register a vehicle in India? How to get a vehicle register certificate 

You need to register a vehicle within 7 days of its purchases. You can do your vehicle registration in 2 ways. First, the Dealer will do it for you but you need to pay some price. Second, you can do it yourself. In this post, you will learn how you can do your vehicle registration.



What documents you need to register a vehicle in India -

1. Application form - This is also known as form 20.

2. Sale certificate - This is also known as form 21. That will be given by the shop from where you purchase the vehicle.

3. Insurance certificate.

4. Proof of address.

5. Road Worthiness Certificate - Also known as form 22.

6. Temporary registration if any.

7. Invoice of the vehicle with the stamp. You need to get 2 invoices, Retail, and manufacturer.

8. Pollution under control (PUC) certificate. This be given by the dealer.

9. 3 Passport size photo

10. If you get a loan for buying a vehicle you also need to fill a form known as 34 forms.

11. PAN card copy

12. Engine print - given by the dealer.

13. Fee for registration -

For bike and scooter, it's 300 INR but for car and Light motor vehicle, it can be from - 600 to 1000 INR.

Now you need to submit all these documents to your nearest regional transport office (RTO) or SDM office. You also need to get that vehicle for whom you are making RC. 

Then after verifying these documents, they will give you a Vehicle registration certificate or RC. This RC is valid for 15 years for a private vehicle all over India.
