Merlion Park Singapore is famous for Singapore national icon “Merlion”. This is half fish and half lion statue. This is an iconic symbol of Singapore transformation from fish to Lion. This park is spread over 2500 square meters. View of “Marina bay sand” from here looks so fantastic, which is just front of it across the river.
Near to this place there are many cafés, bars and gifts shops. Body of Merlion refer to Singapore past, because it was called as “Temasek” means fishing village. Its head refer to Singapore name because Singapura means “lion city” in local language.
This statue throws water from his mouth continuously. And its height is 8.6 meter. Merlion Park Singapore is must visit place for tourist.

HISTORY -

This statue was built by” Lim Nang Seng” from Singapore. 15th September 1972 it’s inducted by Prime Minister “Lee Kuan Yew”. 2002 Merlion statue was relocated to front of "Fullerton Hotel"and overlooking Marina Bay for its better visibility. Small statue of merlion also located here with 2 meter height, known as”Merlion Cub”. In 28th February 2010 the main statue was struck by lightning and it was completely damaged. Its repair was completed in March 2010.

Catch MRT that going to “Raffles Place station “on the East West Line. Take the exit to “United Overseas Bank Plaza”.Just keep on walking around 5 to 10 minute till you will see this place.

From Ngee Ann Polytechnic bus number  to Merlion park 74 ,75 and 154.
Bukit Timah Plaza 130.
Geylang Serai Food Market Bus number 24,28,76,154 and 155.
