How can a Filipino wife of Indian apply for Indian citizenship

An Indian man marrying a Filipino woman can obtain Filipino citizenship and a Filipino wife married to an Indian man can obtain Indian citizenship. 

A Filipino wife of an Indian should give up her Filipino citizenship first if she wants to live permanently in India. If she is not happy in India she can come back to the Philippines at any time. And then she will be again a Filipino citizen. 

Register your marriage in India - 


1. Filipino must stay 32 days in India before applying for marriage registration.

2. Documents for Indian -
- Single ness affidavit from a notary
- Birth certificate
- Passport size photo
- Adhaar card
- Passport

3. Documents for Filipino -
- CENOMAR
- Birth certificate
- passport size photo
- Passport

4. Four Indian witness with Adaar card

5.  Find a registar office where you can register your marriage. This is a special marriage. And it comes in SPECIAL MARRIAGE ACT 1954. 

You can start making a marriage certificate from Panchayat. This is the work of Panchayat to issue a marriage certificate. 

Here you will fill a form and comes back after 30 days. Then you have to sign. Then again come back after 3 days to collect your marriage certificate.

6. Take that marriage certificate to your area collector office/Deputy Commissioner Office to authenticate it. It will take 3 days. Just get your passport with you.  


7. You have to go immediately like after 1 or 2 days to the collector office. Because they will not take if your marriage certificate is older then 15 days.

8. After 3 days you will get an envelope from the collector office. Don’t open that. You have to bring that envelop to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in your state.

9. In DHA they need your passport copy and a passport photo. You also need to fill a form.

10. Then they will give you a form again that you need to give the Ministry of external affairs new Delhi. For that, you need to do it with help of an agency. They will not take documents directly.

11. For MEA you need to give
- You documents that you get from DHA
- Passport copy of both

12. Now MEA you will get a form again you need to register it in the Philippines embassy in Delhi. Philippines embassy also needs some requirements just check it on their website or call them.

13. After you submit all the embassy requirements then it will take place 45 days to send you a marriage certificate with a red ribbon. They also will give you one form that you need to submit in DFA Manila. So your marriage will register in PSA.


VISA FOR FILIPINA -


1. She needs to get a Tourist visa.

2. Convert that visa to x visa. That will be done by the FRRO/ SP office of your area. Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO). You have to submit an application online on their website. The X visa will cost you around 8000 INR.

3. After married for one year in India you can apply for a PIO card. That card valid for 15 years and that gives you facilities to work in India. First applying for a PIO card you need to get an X visa.

4. After 2 years of getting a PIO card you can apply for an OCI card. It will be for a lifetime. https://ociservices.gov.in/
