What does an Indian number plate say? Types of Registration Number Plates in India

Number in India is issued by the RTO ( Regional transport office) exception army vehicle. Indian army vehicle number issued by the ministry of defense.

Let's take an example of the Number plate in India -

HP21MV7867

HP - Refer to the state where the vehicle number issue in India. And right now there are 29 states in India.

21 - Idiacte the Regional transport office or RTO of that state.

MV - Indicate the series of registration numbers. In one series total, 9999 vehicles get registered. After this series finish then-new MW series will start.

7867 - Unquie number of the vehicle.

Indian number plates come in 6 different colors -

Private vehicle - Written with Black color on white background.

Commercial vehicle - Written with black color on yellow color background.

Rental vehicle - written with yellow color on black color background.

Embassy vehicle - written with white color on blue color background

Electric vehicle - White writing on green background

Temporary registration number - white writing on a red background. The validity of this registration is only 1 month.
